Full description
Disconnect from screens and reconnect with the gentle rhythm of Crete’s countryside.
This 3.5-hour digital detox experience invites you to slow down and tune into the quieter layers of life in Archanes, one of the island’s most charming and serene villages. Surrounded by vineyards, stone paths and cultivated landscapes, Archanes offers the perfect setting for presence, reflection and calm.
The journey begins in Kato Archanes, at a contemporary cultural space that represents the living, creative side of the village. Here, guests are gently introduced to the philosophy of the experience and invited to step away from digital distractions. This opening moment sets the tone: unhurried, human, and intentional.
From there, we walk slowly upward through the landscape, leaving the lower village behind and allowing the scenery — and the pace — to change naturally. As the surroundings open up, the experience shifts inward. During a mindful pause along the route, guests are invited to reflect creatively: through simple drawing, writing, or quiet conversation. There is no right or wrong way to participate. The focus is on expression, not performance — on noticing what inspires, what weighs on the mind, and what begins to soften once the noise fades.
The walk continues into Upper Archanes, where everyday life unfolds at a human scale. Moving through the village’s streets and corners, we explore the relationship between place, time and community — not as a guided tour of sights, but as a lived environment that continues to evolve. Silence and storytelling alternate naturally, allowing space for both observation and connection.
The experience concludes with a gentle return to shared hospitality. In the open outdoor space of the Wines of Crete, guests are welcomed with a:
- Mini storytelling about the history of Cretan wine
- A calm herbal infusion or a sip of local wine (optional)
- Admire the breathtaking view of the outdoor area
Our jurney is not over yet!
We walk back at the Archanes central square for a small Cretan kerasma*, as locals do — a simple offering that marks the end of the walk and the beginning of conversation. Over local flavors, water or herbal tea, the group reflects together on what it felt like to move, think and be present without constant digital interruption.
This experience is not about doing more. It is about noticing more.
You leave not with a checklist of landmarks, but with a sense of clarity, groundedness and renewed attention — qualities that tend to reappear when screens fall silent and the land is allowed to speak.
* Cretan Kerasma refers to a traditional act of hospitality, where locals offer a small drink and simple bites as a gesture of welcome, not as a full meal.
