Full description
The Ancient Athens Walking Tour is a journey through time, designed for travelers who want to truly understand the city beyond its monuments.
We meet at Dionysos Zonar’s, a privileged starting point with stunning views of the Sacred Rock. From the exterior of the Acropolis, we explore its role as the religious, political, and symbolic heart of ancient Athens.
Walking towards the Propylaea and the Areopagus, we discuss justice, rhetoric, and power in classical times, while enjoying one of the most impressive panoramic views of the city.
Descending towards the lower city, we make a short water stop at Thissio before continuing to the Hill of the Nymphs, next to the National Observatory of Athens, where ancient thought meets early scientific observation.
The walk continues to the Ancient Agora, the true heart of Athenian daily life. Here we explore the Bouleuterion and admire the exceptionally preserved Temple of Hephaestus, while discussing democracy, craftsmanship, and religion.
Passing through the atmospheric streets of Plaka, near Hadrian, we reach the Roman Agora and the Library of Hadrian, discovering how Roman Athens absorbed and reshaped Greek culture.
The tour concludes at Monastiraki, a vibrant meeting point where ancient ruins, local life, and modern Athens coexist.
